Koru Art

Every Friday from 9-10:45 we worked on our koru art. We started off by drawing some korus, ferns, and rivers on a piece of paper. To colour it in we used pastels so we could blend colours together. With no definite edges of each colour, it looks so much better. After you had finished that we moved onto making a mock-up necklace. We made the mock-up out of play-doh.  We made three designs each before we chose a definite one. Underneath are my three designs.

The first one means power and strength. I carved some designs into as well and they represent the four people in my family, the big one being the oldest.  The other design also means the same but they are in different shapes. Is there anything else the I could have added? Maybe another meaning, or an extremely detailed shape?

  1. Hello Ben,

I really Like your Koru Designs they look very intricate. I also love the Detail you included and what your Koru Symbolises. I really like how you said that your second Koru Design means Power and Strength. Why is that specific Design represented as that Symbol? I also like how the other Design means the same thing except in Different Shapes, maybe you could have dived a little deeper to find the True Meaning. How long did it take to make each of these Designs, and was it hard?

    Kind Regards
    Bella
