Waste can be a lot of things, rubbish waste, human waste and overproduction being the worst. An average American person produces 4.6 pounds of Rubbish a day. That’s a lot of rubbish!!
Every year, the United States generates approximately 230 million tons of "trash"--about 4.6 pounds per person per day. Less than one-quarter of it is recycled; the rest is incinerated or buried in landfills. Each day, about 8 million pieces of plastic pollution end up in our oceans. 100,000 marine mammals and turtles and 1 million seabirds are killed by plastic pollution annually. Since the 1950s, about 8.3 billion tons of plastic have been produced worldwide. In some parts of the world, the use of plastic is illegal.
In conclusion, we need to do something about waste or else we shall suffer the consequences that we have put upon ourselves. Imagine swimming in water which is so polluted there is no Sealife insight.
Yikes, those are some scary statistics! Do you have any ideas about how we can make it better?
